There are only two steps you need to follow in order to find 2% of 45. We'll start by dividing the number, 45, by 100.

We do this because percent means one part in every hundred, and since this is what we need to calculate in this problem, it's the first step in the process:

45 ÷ 100 = 0.45

At this point, we know that 1% of 45 is 0.45, because we just divided it by 100. I'm sure you've guessed now that all we need to do is multiply our result, 0.45, by the percentage we want to find, which is 2:

0.45 × 2 = 0.9
